Hinduism

Hinduism is one of mankind's oldest religions, a complex system of beliefs, doctrines and practices that incorporate different aspects of the whole, a philosophy of unity known as Brahman. Hinduism is a fluid, henotheistic religion of tolerance and inclusion, one with many forms whose adherents may embrace a spectrum of philosophies and interpretations of divine manifestation.

Hinduism holds that we transmigrate through cycles of birth, life and death, our progress towards the ultimate goal of enlightenment determined by karma, which is the accumulation of all our actions, good and bad. Hindus believe that while a body dies, the core of the self, the Atman, does not, but rather is reborn over and over, each reincarnation measured by the karma achieved in the previous life. This cycle of rebirth is known as samsara and is viewed as a form of suffering. Through pure and selfless thoughts and deeds, we may ascend to progressively higher levels or life planes in our subsequent incarnations, and may ultimately be liberated from samsara to achieve Moksha, the deathless self, and a state of eternal peace.
