Sikhism

A faith that centers on belief in a single, formless God who can only be known through meditation, Sikhism originated in Pakistan. Some believe that its origins were derived from Hinduism and Islam, while others believe it to have been revealed directly from God, independent of other faiths. A strict religion that does not tolerate any other allegiances, Sikhism requires its followers to pray many times each day, but never to an idol or icon. While believing in one God, the Sikhs acknowledge many lesser deities, but these are never worshipped. Underlying Sikhism is the principle that all people are equal before God.

Sikhs believe in the karmic cycle of life, death and rebirth and that liberation (mukti) from this wheel of suffering may be achieved only through good deeds and meditation.
