Bextra is said to treat osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis patients with a once-daily medication.
However, Bextra may not be as safe as was initially believed. A January 2004 study on Bextra and other
COX-2 inhibitors has disclosed the potential dangers and side effects of using such drugs. The most harmful
of these effects is the possible increased risk of heart attack. Though benefits of Bextra and other COX-2
drugs do exist, there are several factors that should be considered, including patients who take low-dose
aspirin and high-risk patients (this doesn't seem grammatical, since the patients aren't factors. Not sure
what it should say.). Before considering Bextra, or any other medication, all individual patients must
consider the risk factors and determine with their doctor the best drug treatment for their specific
medical needs.
