Terminating
a month-to-month lease
Either
party may end a month-to-month tenancy simply by giving the other
party a written notice of termination. In most states, this notice
must be given at least 30 days before the date of termination. Usually,
this notice may be given even in the middle of a month. In this
situation, you will owe rent on a "pro-rated" basis for the portion
of the month you stay before the termination date takes effect.
